What can you use the app for?

TheButton.com is a bookmarking tool for fashion and accessories. Anything wearable can be added and shared with the site’s online community. The items are presented with an image, name, number of likes and repins. The user can click on the item to access social network sharing tools for Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus or to leave a comment. Users can also see who originally pinned the item, which board it was pinned to and where it came from. The website works exactly like Pinterest however the users are limited to clothing, footwear and accessories. A follow button appears on each item page so users can follow one another on the site.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

TheButton.com offers an appealing collection of items for anyone who loves fashion. While this may be appealing to some, others may find that the site doesn’t offer much in terms of originality. There has been little talk of TheButton.com on the web, and it could have something to do with its similarities to Pinterest and other pin board style spin off sites. Users can visit Pinterest and create boards about anything – including fashion. TheButton.com may not be wildly popular, but it does maintain an active user community.

What are the differences to other apps?

TheButton.com is essentially a Pinterest clone. The features and sharing tools are the same, allowing users to pin items for the community and share them on popular social networks. Users can build boards and repin items they like or start discussions on product pages. None of this is original, but it does keep the experience interactive for the user. The site’s focus on fashion is the one element that makes it a little different from the site it mimics.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

TheButton.com is easy to use thanks to its pin board layout. Users are greeted by boxes containing an image and a few details about the product. Clicking the item will take the user to its product page. Each page is nice and tidy with no clutter and easy to find buttons. The experience is very user friendly. Of course that’s because it has worked many times before. Anyone familiar with Pinterest will have no trouble diving right into TheButton.com.

How does the registration process work?

New users can join TheButton.com by clicking the black “Sign Up” link in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. Doing so takes the user to a form with a pair of blue buttons. The buttons allow users to sign up with a Twitter or Facebook account. Everyone else can provide a username, first and last name, email address and password to continue. The site asks users to click items they like so it can suggest users to follow. The user is automatically logged in and can begin building their first pin board.

What does it cost to use the application?

TheButton.com costs nothing to use. Anyone can register for an account and begin sharing or searching for fashion and accessories. The service provided is appealing to some, but it is not something most users would pay a fee for. Forcing users to buy a subscription would likely make them turn to other pin board websites. Free is the ideal price to keep users coming back to pin more items and participate in community discussions.

Who would you recommend the application to?

TheButton.com offers an appealing Pinterest style community for anyone who loves fashion. Users can search for new ensembles or share their favorite items with others. Anyone can create an account and post, which allows for a diverse collection of clothing. Users will find everything from designer garments to novelty t-shirts and Cosplay costumes. The layout and functions may not be original, but they are appealing to anyone who loves to explore fashion.
